To the home of the Bavarian Brewers Federation

Bavarian Beer is unique in the world. There simply is no other beverage quite like it! Bavaria — the southern-most state of the German Federal Republic, nestled in the foothills of the Alps — is the place with the greatest variety of beer styles and the longest uninterrupted brewing tradition ... anywhere in the world! The oldest known beer fermenter in Europe was found in Bavaria, in the village of Kasendorf, some seven miles from the northern Bavarian city of Kulmbach. It’s some 2,800 years old. The oldest malting plant and brewhouse in the world, too, was unearthed in Bavaria. It dates from the year 179 AD. Almost half the world’s major beer styles are Bavarian in origin — including the blond Helles and Pils lagers; the amber Märzen and Oktoberfestbiers; the opaque Dunkel lagers; the yeast-turbid Weissbiers; the smoky Rauchbiers, and the strong Bockbiers, Doppelbocks, and Eisbocks.
